My practice specialises in self managed superannuation fund (SMSF) audits and has been involved in using Instead since it was first launched 6 years ago. I have worked in small to large accounting practices for over 25 years. My experience includes business and self managed superannuation fund audits. I have been conducting my own practice for the last 11 years.

One aspect of my practice is to keep the overheads as low as possible. Before Instead I used a paper base audit file as most auditors do. This involved significant storage costs and was also time consuming when retrieving documents. By using Instead we now perform paperless audits. Instead allows me to file all audit documents electronically as they are generated. Also my administrative staff find it very easy to generate standard letters and populate the audit file with relevant data from the system.

Another very important attribute of Instead is how easy it is to communicate with my clients. The system allows me to raise a query electronically and for the client to receive it and then respond to it using the Instead Query Portal. This ensures that I keep an audit trail of all correspondence with my client.

The Query Portal allows me to maintain a status on each job which makes it easier to keep track of work and follow up on outstanding queries. I would highly recommend Instead to any person that is involved in the SMSF audit process.
